Business Development and Management Corp. ("BD&M") Our Manager, BD&M Management Corp. was organized in January 2003 as a Delaware corporation to manage all aspects of our business, Cartel Equity Fund, LLC. The directors of the Manager are elected annually to serve for one year with the guidance of Counsel of Record, Accounting, and BD&M’s Advisory Board and will continue to serve until their respective successors are elected and qualified. Executive officers are elected annually by, and serve at the pleasure of, the Board of Directors. The current director(s) is/are expected to hold office until the next annual meeting of the shareholders, which the Manager expects to be held in December, the last month of each calendar year.
C.O.B.
Don Wilson, is both President and C.O.B. of BD&M Corp, the business development and management entity (The Management Team) of Cartel Equity Fund, LLC, the second of two Venture Capital Funds first established in 2003. He is also the founder of FranCap Corporation, a franchise incubator/accelerator entity with roots dating back to the early 1960's that currently addresses the investment and expansion needs of franchisor businesses.
As a pioneer in franchise development, he assisted in the submission of documents that led to the creation of the first franchise laws in the United States, which were passed in the State of California in 1971. Mr. Wilson is also the founder of Cartel Funding, LLC and its successor Cartel Equity Fund, LLC, both equity and acquisition venture capital funds first established in 2003.
Mr. Wilson, author of the franchise eBook: "The ABC's of Franchising", has contributed to the formation of more than 200 national and international franchises, including companies such as Century 21 Real Estate, Vonage, Dunkin' Donuts, Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, and the National Yellow Pages Services Association (NYPSA).
Mr. Wilson is also the inventor and patent holder of The Netword Technology, an Internet/mobile/directory search tool created to optimize local, regional and national search advertising implemented to perform as a unique supplier to FranCap Corporation in conjunction with another of BD&M’s entities under management: Rabbit Marketing Corp. Rabbit Marketing will perform as Exclusive Agency for FranCap’s Franchisor Partners and Franchisees.
Mr. Wilson, who is currently nationally airing the FranCap Video "I Wish; I Should'a; I Could'a" has been featured as a franchise expert on many occasions including on national T.V., "Franchising Is Here To Stay" (KNBC Circa 1988); and hosted the weekly radio show, “Mind Your Own Business, A Franchise Information Forum”, broadcast out of Los Angeles, CA and Denver, CO from 1986 to 1992, (during the time period Mr. Wilson was transforming his financial management services into venture capital) Mr. Wilson was nominated as “Franchise, Man Of The Year” and featured as well in national publications including Newsweek, Forbes, and Nation’s Business.
Advisors to the Manager
Leslie H. Lewark, has long been a personal and business advisor to The Board and its individual “C” Staff as results his expertise in the academics and psychology fields and continues as such. Mr. Lewark has spent much of the past quarter century in private practice in the field of education, having served as an Adjunct Instructor at Morgan College Colorado. He received his MA in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and his BA-Psychology/Sociology from Metropolitan State College.
Kenneth C. Free, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Netword, Inc., remains an Advisor to the Manager. Mr. Free holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Missouri in Kansas City and a BS degree in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He carries advanced professional designations from the American Hotel and Lodging Association and the American Resort Development Association, as well as being licensed as a Broker by the California Department of Real Estate. He has taught graduate university courses in Strategic Planning and Finance as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Phoenix and has published articles relating to land development. Mr. Free is active in the Urban Land Institute and the American Resort Development Association.
